At the November 18, 2025, United South Central School Board meeting, representatives Brian Hammarsten of the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency and Craig Anderson of the City of Wells presented the district with a rebate check totaling $41,842.

The rebate comes as part of USC’s summer LED lighting replacement project, an initiative aimed at improving energy efficiency throughout the building. The transition to LED fixtures has already made the facility significantly more efficient and is expected to generate substantial long-term savings on electricity costs.

Board members expressed appreciation to SMMPA and the City of Wells for their partnership in supporting energy-smart upgrades that benefit both the district and the community.
