As part of their new CKLA Reading Curriculum, third-grade students listened to a story about a Komodo dragon in one of the bonus units. To support strong comprehension, students are practicing key reading strategies such as asking What do you think? And what do you notice?, as well as examining text features to deepen their understanding. Through this work, students have uncovered fascinating facts about Komodo dragons. These remarkable reptiles can grow larger than some crocodiles, reaching over 10 feet in length and weighing more than 150 pounds. They are native to Komodo Island and the surrounding islands in Indonesia.
