This fall, many of the USC Elementary classes have taken field trips. Last week, the kindergarten students went to Center Creek Orchard to celebrate the fall season and partake in several activities, including going down the giant slide, hayrides, and jump pads, to name a few. Students got to enjoy the outdoors and bring home a pumpkin.
During the month of October, students have been participating in flashlight reading in the Media Center with their favorite books. The Media Center staff provides the flashlights, and students find a place to read while the lights are turned down. This is another creative way to get students involved in reading books. The 4th, 5th, and 6th grade USC students went to hear a WONDERFUL concert performed by the Austin Symphony Orchestra today—a special thank you to Mrs. Rame for organizing this event.

USC Families & Community Members: In the spirit of giving back to others, this year, Ms. Marks' classroom is spearheading project "Pull Together," the collection of pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Rochester and cans for the Freeborn County Humane Society's "Cans 4 Critters."
We want to invite all USC students, families, and community members to collect pop tabs and cans to donate to these two charities this school year. We aim to see how many pounds we can gather in a school year and if we can beat that total in future years.
