USC Athletic Update (1/20):

There has been a change to the Girls Basketball game tonight vs. T/ML/GHEC. JV has been canceled, and it will be a VARSITY ONLY game at 5:45pm.

Today we celebrate International Mentoring Day! Huge thanks to our Big Rebels who mentor and inspire our Little Rebels every day. Your leadership, guidance, and kindness make a lasting impact.

📅 Reminder: There is no school on Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
This day is also a Teacher Work Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday.

USC Athletics Update (1/16):

Boys Basketball vs. Kenyon-Wanamingo has been POSTPONED due to weather and early dismissal for USC. Makeup date TBD.

All after school practices are canceled as well.

Due to high winds and blowing snow, United South Central will dismiss school early today, Friday, January 16th with student dismissal at 1:30 PM.

Alyssa Winkle represented USC at the Dorian Vocal Festival at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa on January 11th and 12th. She sang with over 900 other juniors and senior from the Midwest. It was a great two-day even full of collaboration and music making! To watch the choir’s performance, you can follow the link below and listen from 57:10.

USC Athletic Update (1/13/26):

There have been changes to a couple of tonight's athletic events.

Wrestling is now a triangular at Maple River vs. Waseca and LeSueur-Henderson. MR/USC will wrestle at 5:00pm and 7:30pm (approx.).

Girls Basketball at JWP will be 7th, 8th, and Varsity only. There will be no JV game. Varsity will tip off at 6:30pm.

All other events are on as originally scheduled.

Students in our Early US History course participated in an experiential history lesson! They made "delicious" batches of hardtack, a key Civil War ration made of flour, water, and salt. Thank you to the USC Education Foundation for funding this engaging lesson.

Please note: Monday, January 19, 2026, is a Teacher Workshop Day. There will be no school for students.

USC's 7th Graders participated in the Courage Retreat today in Rebel Country! The day's activities and discussion centered around character building and doing the right thing despite their fears.

Today is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day! We’re grateful for Officer Bullerman who helps keep our school safe, builds positive relationships, and supports our students and staff. Thank you for all that you do!

Our juniors had the chance to read to our kindergarteners again this year, sharing children’s books they created based on LaRose by Louise Erdrich. They turned it into a repeated read-aloud experience—reading, answering questions, rereading, and checking for understanding. A great example of learning across grade levels!

Yesterday afternoon members of USC's FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) Chapter made the short trip to Parkview Care Center to decorate Christmas cookies with the residents!
